A GLOBAL PEACE POLE MOVEMENT - Peace Poles symbolize the oneness of humanity and our common wish for a world practicing peace. Collectively, people of every nation have planted more than 250,000 Peace Poles dedicated as monuments to peace. They serve as physical reminders for us to visualize and pray for world peace, and to hold peace in our hearts, our thoughts and our actions.

A Community-building, Collective Experience

The collaboration in planting a Peace Pole for your organization, community center, park, church, school, private home or apartment, allows for people to come together to create, plant and celebrate the meaning it represents.

You can “plant” your Peace Pole in a variety of ways — from simple placement within an interior or exterior common area or flower bed, to building a labyrinth or sitting area for contemplation, meditation and conversations.

Peace Within Us. Peace Between Us.

“Peace Poles – Vision / Mission - These monuments to peace bring our neighborhoods and our world further into community and is a nourishing and all-inclusive message enjoyed by all ages, faiths, backgrounds and cultures.

The Peace Pole Vision is: A world where we live as one human family practicing peace in our personal and community life.

The Peace Pole Mission is: To support and build individual and community connection and compassion through the consistent, visual reminder to think, speak and act in the spirit of peace and harmony.”  From www.worldpeace.org

The Peace Pole – The Details

The Peace Poles come in various heights from 4 feet to 8 feet tall.  They are made of 4” by 4” white vinyl with the worlds May Peace Prevail On Earth® in 4 or 8 languages, and can include phrases such as “May Peace Prevail in Our Community,” as well as other phrases and accessories.  The official white vinyl peace poles are ordered from non-profit www.ShopPeace.org   NOTE:  I refer all those desiring a white vinyl Peace Pole there because I want to support people and communities the opportunity to hold peace in their hearts, thoughts and actions through planting a Peace Pole (I do not receive any remuneration).

Benefits of planting an official Peace Pole from www.ShopPeace.org are: they encourage community, are affordable, and have a relatively quick project duration.  As an additional benefit, for each official Peace Pole purchased, 10 trees are planted on the African Continent by Trees for the Future at www.plant-trees.org

There is a lot of great history, photos, videos and stories of Peace Poles planted around the world, sample Dedication Ceremonies, and a searchable Virtual Global Peace Pole Map at www.WorldPeace.org

My Peace Pole Activist Story

I am Susan Rueppel, Ph.D., Peace Pole Activist, and Peace Pole Gardens Project Steward.  The Peace Pole Gardens Project is a program under the umbrella of non-profit Divine Spark Community of which I am an active member.

As I continue to answer the question people ask…NO I am not ‘retiring.’  I’m making a Power Pivot.  I am REFIRING!  I am fired up and refocusing my time, energy, skills, and expertise on my evolving passion, which will become part of my legacy.

My ReFIREment Journey

In 2020 I received an intuitive message from the Innate Intelligence of my business that although I’ve made positive impact in the world through my work with my clients, training and speaking, it was time to step up to making an even wider impact in the world.  And, of course, the universe delivered in divine timing the way for me to make that happen.

So rather than focusing on my work as an Intuitive Business Strategist, helping individuals launch or expand their creation (their business and/or or social mission), in 2020 I shifted to volunteering to co-develop Chill Center, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) educational organization’s programs.  My social mission, passion and legacy was expressed through being deeply engaged with my dear friends Laura Hansen and the late Joan Marie (Dedication to Joan is below), in bringing more compassion to the Sacramento, California region and beyond.  As a Compassion in Action Strategic Board Advisor and Compassion Ambassador, the role allowed me to bring my systems and processes design, development, implementation, and documentation expertise to co-create new programs including the Compassion Ambassador Program, Peace Pole Gardens Project, and more.  It was also fun and enlivening because it’s an environment where I can bring all of me to the table:  my business acumen from the corporate world, my business owner savvy, my Intuitive Business Strategist and energetics skills, and my knowledge of Personality Dynamics.  And…I also met amazing people along the way.  One of our projects was planting and dedication of a Peace Pole at the UC Davis Mind Institute in Sacramento, California.

More recently, in June 2026, I planted and dedicated my own monument to Peace at our Main Drain Parkway Community Garden in West Sacramento, California, along with Founder of Peace Poles For Schools Army Major (Ret) Reneé Marie.  We were honored by the participation of West Sacramento dignitaries - Mayor Martha Guerrero and District 3 City Councilmember Dr. Dawnté Early who shared their vision of Peace during our Dedication Ceremony.

Peace Pole Activist and Volunteer

As I became more involved in the Peace Pole Gardens Project, I decided to make it my current social mission focus.  During this ReFIREment chapter of my life I am dedicated to the work of bringing peace, community collaboration, and well-being to our Sacramento, California region and beyond through guiding Peace Pole projects as a volunteer.

As a Peace Pole Activist, I volunteer my time to help others – individuals, organizations, community centers, parks, churches, private home or apartment, to support people to come together to create, plant and celebrate the meaning Peace Poles represent.  If you are interested in planting and dedicating a Peace Pole at a school, see details about my Project Partner Peace Poles For Schools below.

Looking for a White Vinyl “May Peace Prevail on Earth” Peace Pole for Your School?

Ret. Army Major Reneé Marie and Maria Maldonado serve schools interested in ordering and planting a Peace Pole on campus. Renee and Maria consult the school administration on selecting the languages, the size of the pole and other details as well as providing dedication ceremony facilitation.

For more than two decades, she has championed the idea that peace education begins close to home—within ourselves, within our schools, and within our communities—and that these small acts of connection can ripple outward to touch the world.

Peace Pole History

The Universal Message for World Peace, May Peace Prevail On Earth, was authored in 1955 by the late Masahisa Goi of Japan. In a moment of great inspiration, Masahisa Goi awakened to the need to spread this Message in the hearts of the global community for the attainment of inner and outer peace.

Goi initiated an international movement of prayer for world peace.  Goi believed that if everyone put their thoughts and actions into the prayer “May Peace Prevail on Earth”, it would have a uniting and positive effect on all humanity.  He believed the words themselves hold an elevated and harmonious vibration.  Since then, this philosophy has spread throughout the world to people of all ages, faiths, and walks of life.

Goi encouraged creative ways in order to carry the message to public view. In 1976, the idea of placing the Peace Message and Prayer on poles began to gain popularity. This was the first impulse which led to the beginnings of the Peace Pole Project.

“The May Peace Prevail On Earth movement is a grassroots global movement to inspire, and re-awaken the inherit consciousness of love, peace and harmony which exists in every one of us. It is a movement to bring inner peace of mind and to foster peace in the world at large.

Together we can make May Peace Prevail On Earth the most widely expressed universal message of peace.”

A Peace Pole is an internationally-recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth.”

The first Peace Poles outside of Japan began to appear in towns and cities around the world in the early 1980's. By 1986, The Peace Pole Project was established in the United States followed by Peace Pole activities in Europe and throughout the world.

In 2019 May Peace Prevail on Earth International - was incorporated as a nonprofit, non-sectarian organization and established its world headquarters in New York City.  It was accepted as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in affiliation with the Department of Public Information of the United Nations.
